One Last School Bus Ride

For the last 20 plus years, my dad has been working for the Avoca school district as a custodian and school bus driver. He has done his job with such integrity and pride. He has always made me proud to have him as my dad. This year he finally retired, well-deserved!

Before he left, though, I thought it important for the girls to see their Nono in action. My dad took all of us for a last ride on his school bus. As the girls said "This is so fun!!"

Gracias Papi!!

Spring Dance Recital

So I don't know if most of you remember the blog about their winter dance recital. Well, to sum it up, it was a disaster. Crying and choas. Well, this time around they had a dress rehearsal for their spring dance recital, and all went well. They were so excited about wearing sequencey dresses and about being up on a real stage. They did a great job!!

The dress rehearsal was the only time we could video and take pictures, so here they are. PLEASE, excuse the video. I was holding one camera in my right hand taking pictures, while holding another camera in my left hand filming the dance. Plus, their teacher decided to stand right in front of where I was sitting. Anyways, I'm right-handed, enough said.

Memorial Day weekend

For Memorial day weekend, Aaron, his wife Lala, and Herb all came out to Chicago to visit. The girls had so much fun playing with their aunt and uncles. We all had a great time

spending the weekend together.

Mud Run!

This year, for the first time, Rick and the girls signed up for the Mud Run. For Rick it was a 5-K obstacle run, finishing off with a mud pit. And for the girls it was a 100-yd dash with the same mud pit at the end. It was difficult, but Rick finished!! And the girls, with help from Rick and their Uncle Mani, finished also. When we asked them if they had fun, they said "yes!". But when we asked them if they wanted to do it again next year, they said "NO!" We will see next year.

Their first official race!

Happy Birthday to Mama!

Happy's Mother's Day!

This years mother's day was actually relaxing. Why? you ask. Because we didn't host anyone at our house!! We went out for breakfast, and then to my parents' for dinner. Excellent! And my two girls behaved themselves relatively well. What more can a mama ask for!

Big Girl Bikes

For their birthday, Rick and I got the girls their big girl bikes. After a lot of practice and patience, they are now experts. Of course, they still have their training wheels on, though. It'll be a while before we take those off.
